TRAINING SPECIALIST

Location: Baltimore, MD

General Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Clinical Education, the Training Specialist is responsible for the development and deployment of onboarding and ongoing education programs that ensure the competence and confidence of team members. The Training Specialist serves as a dedicated liaison to targeted departments, utilizing a service line approach to training and education initiatives, with a special emphasis on clinical process related priorities. Utilizing organizational data and metrics, the Training Specialist is also responsible for assisting in process improvement and standardization initiatives in all aspects of training.

Position may require travel to Infinite Legacy regional offices.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, communication, psychology, or related field from an accredited college or university; or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
  2. Minimum of 1 year of previous OPO training experience required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Skill in creative and adaptive training material planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, rules, statutes, and codes related to organ, eye, and tissue donation.
  • Knowledge of training techniques, assessment, and research methods; ability to demonstrate high standards of customer service and accountability for program results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, collaborative skills, relationship building, and problem analysis attributes. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and function independently.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to all aspects of interactions with new and tenured employees as it relates to performance.
  • Ability to travel to Infinite Legacy regional offices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as a dedicated resource and liaison to targeted departments, with a focus on ensuring comprehensive training plans are developed and deployed for all associated job roles, for both the new employee training period, as well as ongoing education and competency assessments.
  2. Collaborates with trainers to participate in clinical training assessments and process confirmations across the service area.
  3. Participates in tracking, analysis and reporting on all data elements associated with the Education Team’s metrics, performing on-going data analysis to target specific areas for improvements using a variety of sources, to include nonconformances. In conjunction with department leaders, participates in on-going data analysis to target specific areas for improvement.
  4. Works with Education Team, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and department leaders to develop interactive courses, including asynchronous and instructor-led programs, e-learnings, multimedia content, compliance training, onboarding, and other supporting materials to ensure an effective learning experience for employees, utilizing evidence-based engagement and knowledge transfer and retention strategies.
  5. Leads the presentation of select training topics which are administered through a variety of educational venues such as Donation University, New Employee Orientation, continuing education offerings, hospital on-site activities and external partnerships.
  6. Facilitates key aspects of all simulation activities, to include course development and evaluation, leading sim session facilitation and overseeing debriefing sessions. Supports simulation activities by anticipating, preparing, and providing the appropriate materials and supplies required based on scenario parameters.
  7. Communicates with training and simulation program attendees regarding processes and objectives; also serves as point of contact and dedicated resource for external partner attendance. Coordinates and interacts with third- parties in conjunction with Simulation Center activities.
  8. Collaborates in standardized participant (SP) recruiting and onboarding, continuing education, and performance evaluation assessments.
  9. Participates in the development, dissemination and evaluation of surveys related to all training programs; responsible for analysis of results to identify any needed modifications.
  10. Researches and stays current with emerging educational technologies and provides coaching and training to staff on delivery of learning solutions.
  11. Serves as an active member of education related Committees.
  12. All other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

This position requires consistent availability and frequent travel, along with certain physical, language, and communication abilities, including:

  1. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, pharmacological agent, with likelihood of harm if established health precautions are not followed.
  2. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable personal automobile to be used with company reimbursement, using IRS guidelines.
  3. Primarily works in a normal office environment where there are no physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, dust, etc.
  4. Requires occasional work in the field, donor hospitals, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and other clinical locations.
  5. Requires same day and overnight travel to off-site meetings and functions.
  6. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate telephones and computers.
  7. Vision correctable to 20/20 to read electronic medical charts and computer screens. Frequent and prolonged use of computer screen may produce visual fatigue.
  8. Possible mental fatigue and stress associated with emergencies and management issues.
  9. Ability to accurately communicate, converse, and exchange information in English over the telephone and in person.
  10. Computer literacy in a Microsoft Windows environment and demonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office software programs.
  11. This position is Level 1 – High level exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and TB. Staff members are in a hospital setting and have direct contact with donors or donor organs and tissues through donor management, recovery, and processing.
